One the main functions of circle time is to help children develop their skills and attitudes, to recognise and learn to manage their feelings. It is a key strategy in developing self esteem and moving children towards taking responsibility for their own actions.
What do we do?
In Agile Minds, we recognized how important Circle Time is to younger children. The first twenty minutes of school is very important to the flow of activities that will take place during the rest of the school days.
It offers the children a place in which to develop social and emotional literacy as well as learning to provide supportive listening. Circle Time activities might vary from one school to another, but the essentials are always the same. During this free time of discussion, children will learn listening skills. Through the round, children will learn to give full attention to each person as they have their turn.
Circle Time can get as rich as the children want it to be.

It’s always heartbreaking to drop off your tear-stained child to school. But separation anxiety is very common in this age group. Here are some the ways that you can help your child:
*Visit the school before the first day – Talk to your child about a typical school day, from how they are going to get there in the morning to what they will do, see, and even eat once there.
Books – Reading books about first starting school always help with easing the transition. Knowledge is power and the more information a child has, the more empowered they might feel.
Talk to the teacher – Give the teacher a heads up. Your child’s teacher would have more experience in dealing with separation anxiety and would have tips to share with you.
It’s normal for them to cry if they are new to the environment, we will still persuade them to participate in the lesson. But if the child keeps on crying, the other teacher will bring the child away for a while to calm them down by distracting them with other things. We will let the kid join the class when the child is ready.
One month’s advance notice need to be given to the centre for withdrawal. During the notice period, the student has to continue attending lessons and clear all outstanding fees before deposit can be refunded. Any immediate withdrawal or dropping out cases, the deposit will be forfeited.
When the child can attend the class cheerfully.
Classroom rules are well communicated to children. Children will be asked for time out where an unacceptable behaviour has occurred. Time-out usually lasts between 2 and 5 minutes for toddlers and preschoolers.
For the new students, it’s okay for them to wander in the classroom for the first few days as some might still be crying or trying to adapt to the new environment. However, teachers will encourage children to participate with fun activities such as singing songs, dancing and playing games.
Teachers design various activities which encourage children to work in pairs or teams such as dance in pairs or groups, games which need partner and these can cultivate friendship.
Yes, the teachers will encourage children to take snacks and drink water during the break time. We will discuss with parents or guardians if the child refuse to eat or drink.
To reserve the spot for the child in the centre, one time preparation of all the paper work and materials and insurance are included.
