What is Edutainment?

It is a combination of education and entertainment. Young learners absorb best when they are having fun. At STEP, we strive to create a motivating environment by using a progressive task model to ensure our students are appropriately challenged. These tasks come in the form of interactive and game-based learning activities.

What will my child learn?

Technology and trends are constantly evolving, and we recognize that knowledge acquired today may be irrelevant in the future. At STEP, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip students with the 21st-century skills, as well as learning agility, required to keep up with the changes.

How will learning Robotics and Coding benefit my child?

Technology permeates every aspect of our lives and digital literacy is becoming increasingly important. Exposing children to coding at a young age has a plethora of benefits; they will learn to solve problems and develop sequencing skills that are essential for their academics and daily life.

How do I reinforce learning outside the classroom?

Parental involvement in a child’s education is crucial for their success. When parents are engaged in their child’s academic life, the child will feel supported and develop a lifelong love of learning. We encourage conversations with your child about what they have done in class that are structured to be related to our daily life.

Why is my child unable to articulate what they have learnt in class?

The conventional way of learning requires children to regurgitate what they learnt. Children memorise these information but are unable to find meaning and link the new knowledge to real-life scenarios.

At STEP, our lessons are structured to challenge students to think critically on the application of concepts learnt rather than passively taking in information and memorising it. Our students are guilded to engage in transdisciplinary thinking and problem-solving to achieve the intended learning outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

  • One of our key education philosophy is transdisciplinary learning. In this aspect, it is about having a good mix of technical skillsets and soft skillsets. Both are essential to succeed in the 21st century career path.
  • We believe that child’s intellectual development starts from as young as 18 months old. This stage is critical to strengthen the brain’s neutral pathways and support language, social-emotional, cognitive and physical development. This is what our Agile Minds educators are tasked to do.
  • Our public schools are focusing on the academic and logical foundational development. They provide the spring-board on basic subjects which are essential for how education evolves from there. We do not want to repeat the same programmes which is popularly known as tuitions programmes. Instead, we focus on key skillsets which are not taught in public schools.
  • Our enrichment programs are designed to build up their technical skillsets and enhance the limited exposure from our public schools. This is where our MetaRobot and Young Engineers programs are set up to build up these technical competency that are highly sought after in the 4th industry revolution.
  • Finally, our Young CEO program ensures continuity in their soft skill competency. Children with soft skill development will tend to excel in better career path such as leaders in a company or taking up managing roles.
  • First of all, your child needs to fall in the right age group.
  • Agile Minds: 18 months to 4 years old
  • MetaRobot & Young Engineers: 3 to 16 years old
  • Young CEO: 8 to 16 years old
  • Next, we will arrange for a trial or orientation class in order to assess which level your child will be suitable to join. We do not encourage direct sign-up into our regular class because we would not have the right information to allocate the right class based on your child’s profile.
  • Yes, of course. We highly encourage the child to attend at least 2 of our schools because our programs are targeted to develop the different skillsets of the child.
  • There are many ways of participation. Many of our students have joined our weekly classes in one school and participate in our holiday workshop in another school. We also have many students that will always come for every holiday workshop which is occurring 4 times in a year.
  • And of course you will enjoy more discounts if you are one of our past students. Not forgetting sibling’s discounts etc.
  • Students get to participate 100% in whatever our weekly class curriculum consist of including having 1 set of equipment dedicated for our regular class student. Our trainers will assess the trial class students in order to decide which level they are more suitable with. Feedbacks from trainer, photos and videos (optional) will be provided to the parents after the trial class to update them on what they have done.
  • Parents are also expected to check with their children whether they like the class or not. This feedback is critical for us. We do not want to enroll students if they are not ready for our curriculum.
  • Unfortunately, it is not free. As stated in the above questions regarding what the student will do in our trial class, students will be allocated with 1 set of our state-of-art equipment which is worth $400-$1200 per lesson (no, they cannot bring home). Our trainers will pay special attention to the trial class students in order to guide them along in their first lesson and explaining the rules and regulations to them.
  • The trial class fee is already discounted as compared to what our regular class students are paying. Parents are getting more values out of these trial classes even with the fees they are paying.
  • The objective of the orientation class for Agile Minds is to allow the child to get familiar with the surroundings and their teachers. It is a 3 days 2-hours programmes. Child will be experiencing the same lessons which the regular class students went through.
  • Holiday workshop for MetaRobot is a 3 days 3-hours session. In this 3 hours, the students will be doing 2 projects per day. So effectively, they will be doing 6 projects during each holiday workshop. This is equivalent to taking up 6 weekly lessons. However, there are some holiday workshop where we are only providing 1 day 3-hours session.
  • Holiday workshop for Young CEO is a 5 days 3-hours programmes. It will cover some specially curated curriculum of what the weekly curriculum contains. The weekly curriculum consists of 60 lessons in 6 modules.
  • We also conduct our curriculum in local as well as international schools. Our trainers to student’s ratio is 1: 20 (max) or 1: 12 (min). There is a limitation as to what each student will absorb or learn from these lessons. Let’s be honest, trainers will not be able to put all attentions on each student.
  • However, in our class lessons, our trainer to student’s ratio is lower at 1:2 or 1:4. If the class size increase, we will add another trainer to assist the main trainer with the class. This will ensure the students learnings are not compromised.
  • Many of our students took up Robotics CCA as well as our Robotics curriculum. Some of them have been with us for 2-3 years. Our curriculum will ensure that they are learning all the different aspects of STEM, Coding, Artificial Intelligence without overwhelming them.
  • One of our education philosophy is learning agility. In the rapid changing world, students are subjected to constant challenges of new evolving technology. We believe by exposing them to these variety of learning opportunity, they are better equip to prepare for whatever challenges being brought to them.
  • In the past, excelling in one subject is sufficient to get their career forward. However, for the 21st century, it will require more than 1 subject as the 4th generation of industrial revolution focus on multi-disciplinary fields to excel.
